Jersey Proud: Third grader qualifies for Scripps National Spelling Bee

Sid Srinivasan, of Lawrence Township, will compete in the spelling bee in Washington, D.C. at the end of the month.

A Mercer County third grader is making New Jersey proud with his ability to spell.

Sid Srinivasan, of Lawrence Township, qualified for the 2026 Scripps National Spelling Bee. He is just one of two third graders in the entire country to make it this year.

And he’s not just good at spelling. Srinivasan is also a two-time Amateur Athletic Union all-American diver and a national chess champion.

Srinivasan will compete in the spelling bee in Washington, D.C., at the end of the month.
