St. Joe’s Metuchen High School is the best high school bowling team in the state. But a recent tournament the team participated in wasn’t about winning trophies.

The three-time defending state champs bowled in a fundraiser last week called “Bowling for Books.” They partnered with the Marisa Tufaro Foundation to promote childhood literacy.

The team raised $4,000 for “Reach Out and Read New Jersey.” The money will buy about 1,000 books to give out to low-income kids around Middlesex County.
