What is believed to be a wellhead was being used as a planter in Rahway. It is made of sandstone and weighs over 1,300 pounds.
A stonecutter thinks it dates back to the 17th or 18th century. The property it was found on was an old Lenni Lenape site. There are tool marks on it from that day.
The item was moved to the Merchant and Drovers Tavern Museum until they can learn more about it.
