A Boy Scout troop in Mercer County made New Jersey proud when they helped to rescue a jet skier.
Four teens, ages 14-16, from Troop 5700 in East Windsor and Hightstown were on a sailing trip in the Chesapeake Bay when they got word over the radio that there was a jet skier in the water – and they were nearby.
The teens found the Jet Ski, but not the rider. They radioed in their position to the Coast Guard, initiating a search. The jet skier was soon found and rescued.
"They're always taught to be prepared for any situation. We take first aid stuff, how to help people. To be in a situation where they could use those skills was pretty remarkable,” says Scout Leader Bruce Kramer.
The jet skier was found drifting a couple of miles off the coast and will be OK.
