A summertime music tradition in Jersey City will be held differently this year due to coronavirus restrictions.
Since 2008 the Groove on Grove series features local musicians at the Grove Street PATH Station every Wednesday night from May through September. But this year, the annual tradition will go on virtually.
“It brings a lot of smiles to people’s faces,” says producer Anthony Susco. “It’s a great event for the community. It’s a great opportunity to showcase our local musicians.”
But due to social distancing guidelines, the musicians will be performing from their homes and steaming the performances online.
“We do this event every Wednesday at 4 p.m.,” Susco says.
Viewers are encouraged to donate each week to a nonprofit to help during the pandemic. Susco says that as soon as it is safe to do so, the community will gather on Grove Street once again.
More information about this year’s event can be found on the Groove on Grove website.
