Jersey City residents mourned the death of former boxing champion Arturo Gatti Sunday after he was found dead at a Brazilian resort Saturday morning.
Neighbors say Gatti, 37, was beloved in the area and built a cult-like following. Gatti trained at World Gym in Jersey City, where residents say his death is a loss for the city.
Hall of Fame boxer Guy Casale, who knew Gatti, says he was one of the greatest fighters to fight out of the Garden State. Gatti was found strangled with a purse strap. His wife has been detained as a suspect by Brazilian police.
