A new ranking has named Jersey City the third best city in the U.S. for integrating immigrants in the 2019 Cities Index.
According to the New American Economy Cities Index, Jersey City rose 17 spots from last year.
The city earned distinctions in top categories such as government leadership, community, legal support, economic prosperity, and livability.
According to the findings, the top ranked cities produce more foreign-born entrepreneurs, higher naturalization rates, and more college-educated immigrants than most other cities.
With one of the highest immigrant populations in the nation, Mayor Steven Fulop declared Jersey City a Sanctuary City two years ago for undocumented immigrants.
Chicago was number one on the list, followed by Chula Vista, California.
