Union County officials are asking the public for help solving a case of a child who went missing in 1999.
Authorities say Kevin Sabir Barthrop was just 2 years old when he went missing in Elizabeth on June 12, 1999. He was last seen near his home on the 100 block of Chilton Street. Officials say they believe foul play is involved in the disappearance.
“Individuals believed to have information about his fate are known to be living in Essex and Union counties, and in North Carolina,” Prosecutor Jennifer Davenport said Monday in a statement.
Authorities also released a police sketch of what Barthrop is believed to look like currently.
Union County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to Barthrop being found or information for an arrest and indictment in his disappearance.
Anyone who may have information should contact Sgt. Michael Manochio at 908-966-2287 or Sgt. Janet Lopez at 908-347-8491. Anonymous tips can be given.
