The ramp connecting southbound King George Road to westbound I-78 has reopened following the completion of a $6.1 million bridge replacement project in Somerset County, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

The ramp and its acceleration lane reopened Monday afternoon, marking the final phase of work on the westbound I-78 bridge over a tributary of the Dead River.

The federally funded project replaced the bridge’s superstructure and deck. It also included guiderail upgrades and repaving along a portion of the highway.

According to NJDOT, the improvements are part of the state’s efforts to maintain roads and bridges in good condition and support safe, efficient travel for motorists and the movement of goods throughout New Jersey.
