Police in New Brunswick are investigating an act of vandalism after hundreds of headstones at a Jewish cemetery were knocked over in the past few days.
Police dusted for fingerprints and searched for clues at Polie Zedek Cemetery. Row by row, headstones were turned over. Some were broken into pieces.
Visitors to the cemetery shared a sense of disbelief. ?It?s inconceivable that human beings could do such a horrific act,? Ruth Rosenberg said. She has seven family members buried there.
Police say it?s too early in the investigation to say whether or not the cemetery was targeted for bias. They also say it is difficult to tell how many people were involved in the vandalism.
