Hundreds cheer Massapequa Park Olympic rower at watch party in her hometown

Olympic dreams were on the line Thursday night as a rower from Massapequa Park went for gold.
Hundreds turned out at a watch party in Massapequa Park Thursday night to support hometown hero Kristine O'Brien who went for gold with Team USA's rowing team.
For around seven minutes, spectators cheered their hearts out while O'Brien rowed her heart out. Some even made a little prayer for the girl they knew from St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School
In the end, there was no medal for O'Brien but there was plenty of pride.
"I'm extremely proud. I can't even put into words how extremely proud I am of her. She had a dream, she made it happen. The results might not be what she wanted, but you know what? She went to the Olympics and how many people can say that?" said Kathleen O'Brien-Moore, Kristine's mother.
"She's a champion in our eyes," said Stephen Moore, Kristine's father, who said it was great to see the whole community, schools and friends cheer on for his daughter.
O'Brien and Team USA finished in fourth place.
