The spirit of the season filled the Expo Center in Edison Saturday as hundreds gathered for the sixth annual Christmas Con New Jersey.

Fans from across the Garden State and beyond packed the convention floor, eager to meet their favorite Hallmark stars, shop small businesses, and immerse themselves in all things holiday.

The energy was high as attendees lined up for celebrity panels, autographs, festive photo ops, and a chance to hear behind-the-scenes stories from the stars that have become a staple in many homes.

The experience was nothing short of magical for longtime viewers.

“This is so fun because I’ve been watching multiple Hallmark movies for many years, and I’ve never met anyone in person, and I’m like a little kid right now,” said Kathy Judge, who traveled from Massachusetts for the event.

Beyond the romance and holiday magic, actors say Hallmark films often provide comfort and connection for viewers during difficult moments.

Actor Jonathan Bennett shared a moment he had with a fan during the convention, and highlighted the impact of inclusive storytelling.

“A woman just now came up to me and said her son had just come out as nonbinary, and that watching Hallmark movies with LGBTQ+ representation has been very powerful for them,” Bennett said.

Jessy Schram echoed that, mentioning the emotional role these films can play.

“Our movies find their way into people’s living rooms for the joy of the season, but also when different things have happened in life,” Schram said. “This is a safe place to land — a place that gets to hold your heart.”

Christmas Con also served as a major boost for small businesses. There was a bustling holiday market that featured artists, authors, and vendors who offered unique and last-minute gift options.

“They’re fantastic gifts, especially if you’re looking for something last-minute,” said Erin Cunningham, co-owner of Mugxury Candles. “They’re all soy wax, and once the candle is done, you can use the mug afterward.”

The convention welcomed attendees of all ages — from babies experiencing their first taste of holiday magic, to families who brought along their furry friends. Many fans described the atmosphere as warm, inviting, and community-driven.
