A Hoboken pizzeria is now offering a special incentive to enjoy $20 worth of food.
Mario Albunia, owner of Mario's Classic Pizza in Hoboken, says he noticed a number of his regular customers had lost their jobs and his sales for the winter months had dropped. Albunia decided to offer customers who spend $20 a gift card worth $30 at his pizzeria.
Customers, like Richie Aviles, say they greatly appreciate the offer and just couldn?t pass it up. Longtime customer Steve Cappiello spent enough to earn two gift cards. In the past two weeks, Albunia says he?s sold 64 gift cards.
Though the cards guarantee customers free food, Albunia says he has already seen new business.
"The president says, let's give people some money,? Albunia says. ?Come to Mario, I'm going to give you money, right here in the neighborhood."
Albunia, who typically hosts a free Thanksgiving turkey dinner for residents in need each year, says he?s happy to give back to the community that has kept him in business for more than 25 years.
