City leaders in Hoboken are looking to increase fines for people who violate indoor gathering rules.
Fines are currently $250, and an ordinance introduced last week would fine disorderly indoor gatherings from $250 to $1,000 if the rooms are filled at more than 25% capacity.
The news comes after recent cases in the city were traced back to a series of house parties.
The city council will vote on the ordinance Thursday at a special meeting.
