A Highbridge man was arrested for his alleged role in the violent robbery of a 12-year-old girl in Soundview, authorities say.

Ansel Cruz, 18, was taken into custody Saturday. Police say a second suspect remains on the run.

Cruz is accused of snatching two necklaces from the girl's neck in broad daylight in front of 1277 Stratford Ave. on Valentine's Day.

Authorities say the girl was walking on Stratford Avenue when Cruz and a second person approached her and shoved her against a wall before forcibly taking the necklaces.

The girl suffered redness and pain in her neck. Officers took her to the 43rd precinct, where she was treated by EMS. She is expected to be OK physically.

Cruz faces a robbery charge.

Anyone with information on the second suspect is urged to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
