A fire inside a Hoboken high-rise apartment building prompted a large emergency response Wednesday afternoon.
The fire started around 12:45 p.m. in a building at 2 Marine View Plaza. Thick, black smoke and flames could be seen pouring out of a window on an upper floor.
The fire was brought under control about an hour later, according to the Hoboken Fire Department.
Hoboken Police Chief Ken Ferrante says that only one person was treated for smoke inhalation. Ferrante praised local emergency responders for their quick action to take care of the situation.
Residents were being allowed back into their apartments by around 4 p.m.
It was not immediately clear how the fire started.
