A few neighborhoods in New Jersey made it to 100 this afternoon. One of those spots was Newark Liberty International Airport, tying the record set back in 2006. Does it stay this hot for the rest of the week? No, but the temperatures will remain above average through the weekend.

Sun and clouds, hot and humid again tomorrow. Highs reach for the low-90s, but it feels more like 100.

The difference on Friday is there is a better chance for some nasty storms to rear up anytime after 4 p.m. So from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., you should start becoming weather aware. Lots of lightning and drenching downpours may lead to localized flooding. Gusts to 60 mph or more could also be commonplace. This type of wind is destructive. Branches could snap, trees topple, power lines snap. Plan for the inconvenience of losing power. These storms will pass just before 10 p.m. Clouds will loiter in our Friday night skies.

The weekend is looking improved, BUT NOT perfect. Saturday is probably better than Sunday. Saturday sees a bit more sunshine while Sunday could be stuck with more clouds and a better chance for rain Sunday afternoon.

SATURDAY: Clouds with scattered showers and thunderstorms by the afternoon. Highs in the upper-80s. Thunderstorm threat remains for the evening. Overnight lows around 75.

SUNDAY: More scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the mid-80s, lows around 74.

MONDAY: Sunshine returns. Daytime highs in the low-90s. Some clouds by the evening with lows around 74.
