The chairman of Sayreville’s Democratic party is facing bribery charges.
Police say Thomas Pollando was caught on tape accepting thousands of dollars at a business in town. Police say Pollando is heard saying that he would use his position to influence an ongoing criminal case.
Pollando also serves as the vice chairman of the Middlesex County Planning Board, is the long-time president of the Sayreville Athletic Association and holds a seat on the Sayreville Economic and Redevelopment Authority. He is also employed with the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.
Pollando was charged on a summons and was released.
