Board game company Hasbro has unveiled a new female-centric version of the classic game Monopoly.
Ms. Monopoly is a version of the game where women players are paid more than men.
But the game maker says that this version is also unique because instead of investing in properties like the original version of Monopoly, players will invest in inventions created by women past and present.
Hasbro also picked three teenage girl inventors and gave them $20,000 to pursue their dreams.
Gitanjali Rao, 13, of Denver, is one of the girls. She invented a device to detect lead in drinking water. She says that she will use the money to work with patent lawyers and to help get the devices into the market.
The new version of the game was met with mixed reviews – with some saying it is a great opportunity for women and others saying that it is pandering.
This is the second time that Monopoly has been in the news lately. A socialism version of the game was also recently released.
