Happy Birthday to a New Jersey icon – legendary musician Bruce Springsteen turned 70 years old on Monday.
“The Boss” is often associated with Asbury Park, and at least one music venue – The Saint - is honoring that relationship.
“He is a superstar,” says owner Scott Stamper.
The venue is celebrating Springsteen’s achievements by playing music from his entire career while paying tribute to him at the club.
Event organizer Bob Zimmerman says that fans plan to party all night.
"I can say while there's records I like better than others, he's never disappointed me,” Zimmerman says.
Springsteen also has a special connection to The Saint – he performed there for a BBC documentary on Oct. 28, 1998.
“A local promoter saying, ‘Scott, we have someone coming to your club tomorrow and you cannot tell anybody.’ And it turned out to be Bruce Springsteen,” Stamper says.
Springsteen is known to play at other Asbury Park music venues, including The Stone Pony.
