Today kicks off the Great Kindness Challenge, and schools all over the country will be participating with week-long events to help empower students and create a culture of kindness.
Many schools in New Jersey are doing their part as well, including Unity Charter School in Morristown.
All month long, the school has been participating in acts of kindness leading up to the week.
On Friday, they held a pep rally to celebrate what makes the school so great, which included videos made by the students and performances about the school.
"So we have a first-grader reading to her baby sister, or we have someone who's next door neighbor did really meaningful community service for the entire month,” says Jennifer Carcich. “The kids wanted to be a part of it because we know it’s the right the to do to do for others, being active citizens and doing what's right for everyone around you.”

Jennifer says when kids see other kids participating in acts of kindness, it inspires others to get involved too.
