Police: Grandfather, 6-month-old grandson killed by fallen tree in Verona

Police say a tree in the rear of the residence at the corner of East Lincoln Street and West Lincoln Street suddenly uprooted around 7 p.m.

Police say a grandfather and his 6-month-old grandson were struck and killed Monday from a fallen tree in Verona.

According to authorities, Verona police and fire and rescue squad responded to the corner of East Lincoln Street and West Lincoln Street around 7 p.m. where a tree in the rear of the residence uprooted and landed on the 61-year-old man and his grandson.

There is no indication if weather played a part in the tree falling.

The names of the grandfather and grandson have not been released. Police added that there will be no further comment at this time as the family continues to grieve.
