Gov. Phil Murphy took to Twitter Monday afternoon to congratulate the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies on their weekend wins – but seemingly ignored the Giants and Jets, teams that play in the Garden State.
In a tweet, the governor said, “It was an unbelievable weekend for @Eagles and @Phillies sports fans in New Jersey. Congratulations to both teams on two incredible games!”
This tweet was posted just before 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 17.
Critics of the governor immediately took to Twitter to point out that the Giants and Jets also had big wins on Sunday.
The Giants beat the Ravens at MetLife Stadium to move to 5-1, and the Jets thumped the Packers at Green Bay and are now 4-2.
About two hours after Murphy’s first tweet, he then retweeted a SportsCenter tweet about the Giants and the Jets. Murphy’s retweet also had the caption. “Look at us @nycgov #JerseyProud.”
