Gov. Phil Murphy says that he is not expecting to modify any of his COVID-19 executive orders following a federal court ruling that similar orders in Pennsylvania are unconstitutional.

The federal judge earlier this week ruled that Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf’s orders for outdoor gathering limits, business shutdowns and a stay-at-home order violated the United States Constitution.

Murphy said Wednesday that he is reviewing the decision and that his orders are designed to protect New Jersey residents.

"We wouldn't be putting these executive orders out as we do without having thought deeply about their viability and their efficacy. And I feel completely comfortable as I sit here today that what we have done will stand the test of time, will withstand legal challenges etc. and so far, that has been the case,” the governor said.

Pennsylvania business owners filed a lawsuit, along with four western Pennsylvania counties. The Wolf administration plans to appeal the ruling.
