Gov. Murphy says the road back to some sense of normalcy will be driven by data, science, and common sense.
But just because the plan is coming, doesn't mean change will happen right away.
“We have suffered an extraordinary toll of loss of life, I think understand the data right now is we are still a number of weeks away,” says Gov. Murphy. “The fatalities continue to be significant each and every day, our positive test curve has flattened, and that's a good thing. More importantly hospitalizations have come down, ICU and ventilator use down a little bit. Those are good signs. But we are not out of the woods yet. I think we are several weeks away."

Restrictions have been in effect throughout the state for more than a month, including a ban on any gatherings, the closure of nonessential businesses, and requiring restaurants to only offer takeout or delivery.
The governor has previously said one of his benchmarks to hit before reopening is more broad testing statewide. So far, only people with symptoms are being tested.
