Thrill seekers looking for a spooky adventure at Six Flags Fright Fest Extreme now have to wait to experience the full attraction.
Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township has postponed the full Fright Fest for the second weekend in a row. Visitors tell News 12 there are only two attractions open currently.
But the theme park has been advertising haunted houses, scare zones and rides in the dark.
“I was hoping everything would be open, but I was like disappointed,” ticket holder Peter Meyer told News 12.
Opening day was scheduled for Sept. 13, but on the day before, a social media post from Six Flags stated that due to "unforeseen circumstances" it would open as a "preview event" instead. This week, another post was shared saying Fright Fest will continue as a "preview event."
Parkgoers were left disappointed.
“I'm supposed to be going soon, so I’m just hoping the attractions are there,” said Xurey Gregory.
It's not the scare visitors were looking forward to when they showed up, hoping for the full experience. However, the amusement park is giving customers return passes.
The theme park hasn't said when they plan to have all the attractions open, but when they do, they're expected to have new attractions featuring themes like “Stranger Things,” “The Conjuring,” “SAW 20th Anniversary,” “Army of the Dead” and “Texas Chainsaw.”
Out-of-towners may have a long way to travel if they return from places like Pennsylvania or New York. But some who live nearby say they don’t mind the wait.
News 12 reached out to Six Flags Great Adventure for more information on guest passes and when guests can expect the attraction to be up and running and is waiting for a response.
