A Freehold teen has organized an effort to feed hungry families with pizza.
With some guidance from his parents who both work in health care, 15-year-old James Wortman donated $400 of his own money to buy the pizzas from his favorite shop, Romeo’s Pizza.
The community soon became involved and raised more than $2,000 for the effort dubbed the “Rainy Day Pizza Fund.”
“My parents sat me down watching the news and made me aware of how fortunate we are that they both work in health care. There are those who aren’t as fortunate, and that made me want to help,” Wortman says.
Romeo’s has delivered more than 60 pizzas to nearly 40 families.
