A New Jersey-based non-profit organization helping American soldiers in Iraq communicate with stateside loved ones is faced with the prospect of going dark if it cannot raise enough money to stay in operation. Freedom Calls is looking to raise $75,000 to pay for three months of satellite usage. The organization says if it cannot raise the necessary funds, the network will be shutdown. The organization provides troops the ability to share about a half hour of video conferencing per session with families across the country. Freedom Calls says this allows men and women overseas to share moments like births, which they otherwise would have missed due to their deployment.
