Former state Sen. Ron L. Rice dies at 77
Ron L. Rice was elected to the state Senate in 1986. He retired last August due to poor health.

Rice was elected to the state Senate in 1986. He retired last August due to poor health.
His district included his home city of Newark.
State Sen. Richard Codey says that he loved Rice and that Rice always had his back.
Essex County Executive Joe DiVincenzo called Rice a tireless worker for Newark and its residents.
Rice was 77 years old.
