A man from Morristown will spend the next 17 years in prison for posing as a woman to send sexually explicit pictures and videos to minors, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced on Thursday.
Court documents say in January 2021, 37-year-old Steven Brooks, who was employed by a New Jersey elementary school and helped run a youth soccer club, used a fake online persona on social media to solicit photos and videos from dozens of minors engaging in sexual activity.
Brooks admitted to having at least 79 victims, according to officials. He was charged with one count of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
In addition to the prison term, Brooks was sentenced to 10 years of supervised release and ordered to pay $237,000.
