Residents dealing with flooding in Bergen County were promised relief for the future by local and federal leaders.
Politicians and Army Corps of Engineers representatives toured flood-prone areas in northern New Jersey Tuesday. Residents showed the group their homes, which were devastated by floodwaters and the overflowing Saddle River.
Politicians are promising changes for the future, but they say they won?t take place for at least another three years. Local leaders say they need to have another study completed in the area, which will take at least two years. A plan of action then needs to be developed, which could take another year.
John Woodley Jr., who oversees budgeting for the Army Corps of Engineers, promised residents he?d take their complaints back to Washington. However, he says it will be up to the next president?s administration to put money into a Saddle River dredging project.
