With the FIFA World Cup set to bring international crowds to MetLife Stadium this summer, businesses across New Jersey are preparing for an influx of soccer fans.

This includes the American Dream mall, which now has a new, soccer-focused Adidas store designed around the World Cup.

The store, the first and only Adidas location in the United States dedicated entirely to soccer, is now open inside the American Dream complex, just around the corner from MetLife Stadium, which will host eight World Cup matches.

“The World Cup is gonna be a whole other beast, 40 days of programming around it, eight games next door and everyone’s excited for what’s to come,” said Gregg Schwartz, with the American Dream Mall.

Inside the store, shoppers are greeted by national team kits from every Adidas-sponsored country competing in the tournament. The store also offers on-site customized gear.

World Cup history is also on display throughout the store.

“Another great element of the store is the Adidas soccer ball wall,” said Schwartz. “Adidas has been the official ball for over 50 years. Throughout the wall, you can see all the past World Cups. You have the ball from 1990, 1994, 1998, all the way back to 1970.”

Even the fitting rooms are themed with international teams, including a large mural of Lionel Messi.

“The great thing about American Dream is we’re a destination,” said Schwartz. “Before the World Cup, we have visitors from 110 countries a year, all 50 states. But we’re ecstatic that we’re going to see a lot of visitors from around the world, and they’re going to be engaging with our attractions, our dining and our tenants for the months to come.”
