A fire broke out Tuesday morning near East Pelican Way in the Ocean Beach section of Toms River.

The Ocean Beach Fire Company was dispatched to the scene after a neighbor who spotted smoke in the area contacted emergency services.

First responders arrived to find a fire on the exterior of a home near the electrical meter panel.

Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control and prevented it from spreading into the structure.

The residence was unoccupied at the time, but the cause remains under investigation by the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention.
