Firefighters worked in icy conditions to bring a house fire under control in South Amboy.
The fire chief says the family that lives there was able to get out safely because of working smoke detectors.
While the cause of the fire is under investigation, South Amboy Fire Chief Rafael Albarran says there was fire in the attic, possibly coming from a light or something electrical.
The fire marshal will investigate. For now, the family cannot stay there.
The biggest obstacle for these firefighters were the icy conditions.
South Amboy DPW crews salted the intersection of 5th Street and North Stevens Avenue.
