Firefighters in Morris County battled dangerously cold temperatures while fighting an apartment fire Monday.
The fire was reported at an apartment building on Washington Avenue near Interstate 287 in Morristown.
Fire officials say that the fire damage seemed to be contained to the inside of the unit, and appears to have started in the attic. Chief Robert Flanagan says that he believes the fire may have been caused by an electrical issue.
One of the challenges that firefighters faced was frigid temperatures in the low-teens.
“It’s pretty bad, but we’ve got to do what we’ve got to do. We had assistance from volunteers here in town and the Morris Township Fire Department,” said Chief Flanagan.
Two people were displaced by the fire. No injuries were reported.
