Firefighters battle 3-story house fire in Beach Haven

Firefighters quickly knocked down a second-alarm fire that broke out at a three-story home in Ocean County on Monday afternoon.
Fire units were dispatched to 211 Leeward Ave. in Beach Haven at about 4:34 p.m. following reports of a structure fire. While en route, command officers spotted a heavy column of smoke rising into the air and immediately called for a second alarm.
Fire crews arrived to find heavy flames pouring from the third floor of the three-story wood-frame home.
Firefighters quickly established a water supply, stretched two hose lines, placed ground ladders and deployed two aerial ladders. With rapid action and assistance from incoming mutual-aid companies, crews knocked down the bulk of the fire.
No injuries were reported. The scene was turned over to the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office, which is investigating the cause of the fire.
