Firefighters battled a three-alarm blaze and cold temperatures in Newark Monday afternoon.
Smoke and flames engulfed two single-family homes at 127 and 129 Wright St. As firefighters battled the fire, water froze on the ground and made the scene even more dangerous.
At least two firefighters were taken to University Hospital with minor injuries. According to the fire chief, one firefighter suffered an allergic reaction while the other suffered a sprain.
Fire officials say the flames spread so quickly, they weren?t able to complete a full search of the buildings. One man who escaped from 129 Wright St. says at least 30 men live inside his building. He doesn?t believe anyone was trapped inside.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
