Fire at JCP&L substation knocks out power to thousands in Manchester area
A fire at a JCP&L substation Sunday morning has knocked out power to traffic lights and thousands of customers in the Manchester area.
The fire sparked at the substation on Ridgeway Boulevard, and police say it's affecting the "majority of the town's power." They say traffic lights in the area were expected to be out for several hours.
Utility crews were at the scene attempting to make repairs.
JCP&L's website showed about 7,500 customers were without power, with 7,100 in the Manchester area as of about 10 a.m. Sunday.
