A FedEx truck driver seen on video speeding and trying to cut off a school bus has been fired, according to the company.
"Safety is our No. 1 priority at FedEx Freight. We will not tolerate the type of behavior seen in the video and we have terminated the driver's employment with our company," a company spokesperson said in a statement.
The viral video came to light Wednesday when Ocean County resident Stephen O'Connor witnessed the FedEx truck and Jay's Bus Service school bus "battling" each other for the road in Lakewood.
The video appears to show the school bus driving on the wrong side of Airport Road in an attempt to pass the truck. The FedEx driver then appears to block the school bus by also driving into the opposite lane.
The school bus driver has also been fired, according to a representative from Jay's Bus Service.
The Lakewood Police Department is investigating the incident. A spokesman for the department says charges may be filed.
