Investigators are continuing to look for clues as to what caused the South Plainfield fire that killed an elderly woman and her four grandchildren Thursday morning.
Fire Chief Thomas Scalera, of the South Plainfield Fire Department, says investigators may have found where the fire started. According to Scalera, investigators are focusing on the first floor area, around the kitchen.
Scalera says they do not know whether the family knew they were in danger or whether the smoke detectors were working.
