The father of an 11-month-old boy beaten to death at a Woodbridge day care center said he has a lot of unanswered questions about the events leading up to his son?s death.
Tafawahh Francis said Beverly Bryant?s day care center, located in her basement at 25 Carver Ave., was the perfect place for his son, Tahir. However, now Francis thinks Bryant hasn?t told the whole truth about what happened to his child.
?I asked her what happened and she didn?t want to tell me,? Francis said.
A 9-year-old boy and Bryant have been charged in Tahir?s death. Prosecutors said the 9-year-old beat Tahir to death while Bryant was in another room last Thursday. Bryant?s lawyer said his client did everything she could and didn?t notice the 9-year-old near the baby.
Francis said he hasn?t had any recent contact with Bryant and he doesn?t know the 9-year-old boy.
The 9-year-old has been charged with the juvenile equivalent of aggravated manslaughter. Bryant has pleaded not guilty to charges of endangering the welfare of a child. Meanwhile, the day care center is closed and DYFS is investigating.
