A tradition dating back 44 years in Monmouth County stepped off Monday, honoring those who lost their lives fighting for freedom.
Despite some early rain, skies brightened for the 44th annual Farmingdale Memorial Day Parade.
Thousands of spectators lined Main Street to watch the honorees drive, march and play through downtown.
The Farmingdale Historical Society hosts the parade, which is one of the largest Memorial Day events in Monmouth County.
