The family of a man killed Saturday when his motorbike collided with a garbage truck is demanding an apology after his body was left uncovered in the street for hours.
Police arrived at the scene of the accident around 9:45 a.m., but left the dismembered body of Kai Winfield, a 39-year-old father of three, lying on the street for the next three or four hours according to neighbors.
Winfield?s family says they want answers and an apology from the city of Newark. "Not only did they not care about my brother laying in the streets, but they didn't care about residents around. They didn't care he has family here," sister Sheena Winfield said.
The family is also asking for a change in the city's policy for dealing with such accidents so that the victims and surrounding residents are protected.
Police say the crash appears to be an accident. No charges have been filed against the driver of the garbage truck.
