A falling tree severely damaged an SUV and partially closed a roadway in Passaic County on Monday morning.
The tree fell onto a Jeep Cherokee parked along Passaic Avenue in Passaic. The vehicle was badly damaged and had to be towed away. Passaic Avenue was partially closed for a time while crews removed the fallen tree.
No injuries were reported.
Wind gusts reached up to 50 mph in some areas of the state on Monday, and the National Weather Service issued a strong wind advisory.
Heavy rain around the state for the past few days has made the ground soft. Combined with the strong winds, trees have been falling around the state causing power outages.
Utility crews have been out around New Jersey making repairs to help restore power.
