Fallen utility pole leaves hundreds without power
A fallen utility pole left hundreds of Newark residents without power Thursday.
Officials said the pole was rotted at the base and fell on its own, dropping three transformers and taking down a second pole on South 10th Street. Initially, 1,280 PSEG customers were affected.
A spokesperson for PSEG says that the power has been restored everywhere except for Harriet Tubman Elementary School. Crews were still out working on repairs Thursday evening.
A portion of South 10th Street was closed for a time but has since been reopened.
