About 500 customers are without power in Morris County after a tree fell onto some powerlines and knocked down poles.
About five buildings of the Mountain Club Condominiums complex in Morris Plains are impacted. The tree fell due to a heavy downpour of rain from the remnants of Debby. Branches from the tree also fell onto a parked car, causing damage.
No injuries were reported, but residents will have to wait for their power to be restored.
“It sounded like a huge boom. So like firecrackers but times 20. It was extremely loud yeah. Then you just saw different colors coming out,” says resident Lauran Dathe.
Verizon crews were on the scene to replace the utility poles. JCP&L officials say most of the power was restored Friday night and they hope to have all customers restored by Saturday morning.
