Fairfield receives reimbursement grant to build a new Dwight Elementary
Officials say the current school building, built in 1962, is in need of improvements for its aging infrastructure. The new building will feature five new early childhood classrooms and help the school accommodate more students.

Fairfield officials, along with Gov. Ned Lamont, announced on Monday the approval of a reimbursement grant to build a new Dwight Elementary School.
The town will receive a 75% reimbursement rate, which is roughly $57 million in state funding.
Officials say the current school building, built in 1962, is in need of improvements for its aging infrastructure.
The new building will feature five new early childhood classrooms and help the school accommodate more students.
"I like what these guys are doing here. You want your special ed kids not to go an hour out of town and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. They have anticipated that and special ed facility here. We're doubling down on early childhood and pre-K. They're going to have special pre-K facilities built in, so when we're ready to go, they're ready to go," says Lamont.
