Essex County authorities: 26-year-old Newark man fatally stabbed

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office says police arrived at the 300 block of Bloomfield Avenue just after 3 a.m.

A stabbing in Newark early Saturday morning left a 26-year-old man dead.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office says police arrived at the 300 block of Bloomfield Avenue just after 3 a.m.
They found Fernando Michael Villa Valdivieso with a stab wound. He was taken to University Hospital where he later died.
The stabbing occurred not far from the Bloomfield Avenue train station and several businesses.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the fatal stabbing is urged to call the tip line 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432. Calls are kept confidential.
