Non-profit organizations and charities are feeling the economic pinch, including the Essex County Rape Care Center.
Advocates say the center is in dire need of donations and supplies are running low.
The center sends accompaniments to sexual abuse victims to help deal with their recovery. The advocates go to the hospital to help explain the rape exam process to victims.
They also bring care packages containing sweatpants and sweatshirts for victims.
"It's possible that the police will take [a victim's] clothing to provide evidence," says Ursula Liebowitz, director of the center. "We didn't like the fact that these victims were leaving the hospital in scrubs."
In the last three months, 127 accompaniments were sent out.
