Nutley police are on the case following the unusual discovery of a gravestone.
Employees at the New Jersey Transit bus garage in town found an engraved headstone in front of the building and turned it in to police.
Police believe it was removed from a human grave, but it has not been reported missing.
The stone bears the name Max Ferreira and includes the dates June 16, 1990 - Sept. 29, 1998.
"It's unfortunate for the family, if it is a true headstone that belongs at a gravesite," says Nutley Police Chief Tom Strumolo. "We are doing everything we can to get it back to the family and back to the gravesite."
Anyone with any information about the headstone is urged to contact Nutley police at 973-284-4940.
